What is the cause of Yellow Fever, and what are some symptoms, prevention and treatment?

Yellow fever begins after an incubation period of three to six days. Most cases only cause a mild infection with fever, headache, chills, back pain, loss of appetite, nausea, and vomiting. In these cases the infection lasts only three to four days. In fifteen percent of cases, however, sufferers enter a second, toxic phase of the disease with recurring fever, this time accompanied by jaundice due to liver damage, as well as abdominal pain. Bleeding in the mouth, the eyes and in the gastrointestinal tract will cause vomitus containing blood (giving the name black vomit). The toxic phase is fatal in approximately 20% of cases, making the overall fatality rate for the disease 3% (15% * 20%).

Yellow fever is caused by the yellow fever virus, a 40 to 50 nm wide enveloped RNA virus belonging to the family Flaviviridae. The positive sense single-stranded RNA is approximately 11,000 nucleotides long and has a single open reading frame encoding a polyprotein. Host proteases cut this polyprotein into three structural (C, prM, E) and seven non-structural proteins (NS1, NS2A, NS2B, NS3, NS4A, NS4B, NS5); the enumeration corresponds to the arrangement of the protein coding genes in the genome. The viruses infect amongst others monocytes, macrophages and dendritic cells. They attach to the cell surface via specific receptors and are taken up by an endosomal vesicle. Inside the endosome, the decreased pH induces the fusion of the endosomal membrane with the virus envelope. Thus, the capsid reaches the cytosol, decays and releases the genome. Receptor binding as well as membrane fusion are catalyzed by the protein E, which changes its conformation at low pH, which causes a rearrangement of the 90 homodimers to 60 homotrimers.

Is there a home remedy to stop itching ?

after taking bath & before putting your under garments please apply some SESAME OIL over your body & rub it gently, daily for 10 days.Use Glycerin based bathing soaps e.g. PEARS etc. for bathing.
After 10 days you will get rid of itching .

Self Experience

You can treat the itching but getting rid of it depends on the source. Colloidal oatmeal comes in packets that you can add to your bathwater-- that helps a lot. You can also blend 2 cups of rolled oats and 1 cup of baking soda and use it in your bath or as a paste. Avoid hot showers and hot baths-- they make the itching worse. Warm is better than hot.

Do not put any oil on your skin until you know why you are itching. If it is from something you touched the oil will trap the irritant and inflame it. If you think it might be from something you touched you can try white vinegar or aloe, but oatmeal works best. Good luck!

A regular yoga practice will solve your problem. Following yoga practices are recommended: Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskara), Shoulder Stand Pose (Sarvangasana), Plough Pose (Halasana), Peacock Pose (Mayurasana), Frontal Brain Cleansing (Kapalbhati Pranayama) and Short Intestinal Wash (Laghoo Shankhaprakshalana).

The best remedy is not to use any sugar and sweets. You can also use Baby Johnson oil every day on your body if your skin is dry.
Every week take one spoon of Awala powder with milk. This will keep your stomach clean. There should be no constipation.

You didn't say whether it is type 1 or type 2 diabetes, which makes a big difference. Diet is helpful with both kinds, but type 2 diabetes can be cured by eating right.

Go to youtube.com and type in Neal Barnard Program For Reversing Diabetes.

Neal Barnard is a doctor of medicine who teaches at George Washington University in Washington, DC.

I am a complete normal person who happens to have diabetes type 2!! I don't let it stop me from doing anything and everything I want to do.

Eat LOW carbohydrate food plan, the lower the better so less injected instant insulin is needed.
Exercise regularly even if it is only walking as fast as one can for an hour EVERY day.
Take meds on regular schedule!! The closer to the hour the better most of the meds work, except for instant insulin which is just before each major meal.

I would have hoped that your physician would have helped you with the answer to your questions. But sometimes the best information comes from another diabetic.

I have been a diabetic, Type 1, for 10 years. I had to learn everything on my own. I'll gladly share with you what I have learned.

You did not mention if you were a type 1 or type 2 diabetic. But in either case, dietary intake can have a tremendous effect on how well your sugars are controlled. Limiting your carbohydrate (CHO) intake to approx 40 grams per meal should be about right. Avoid the "white carbs" like white processed flour, white potatoes, white rice, white sugar and white pasta. Whole wheat products are better - the more twigs and seeds in the bread, the better. CHO breakdown begins as soon as food goes in the mouth - that's what saliva is for is to begin the digestion process. The more husks and kernals in the product you eat, the longer it takes to break down - therefore you will not see a rapid rise in blood sugar levels.

The BEST reference material I can suggest to you is one written by Kalorie King - you can find it on Amazon - it is a nice book you can carry with you that lists the calories, fat and CARB COUNT of every food known to man. The back of the book has fast food restaraunts listed and carb counts for their menu items. That way, if your buddies want to go to McDonalds for lunch, you can get a grilled chicken ranch salad and only consume 3 gm of carbs! If you are craving pizza, just eat the toppings and avoid the bread altogether. The book costs about $8-9 and I get a new one every few years.

Stick with it - having diabetes sucks but take the attitude you are not going to let it control you - YOU are going to control IT!
Good Luck
