By Knowledge. Loads of it. Read, read and read all you can all about the topics you are wondering about or is bothering you about and find out how 'you' can change. Keep this to yourself or even start writing/typing in a journal/diary. The other thing all humans need is to TALK to someone. Talking is a form of Exercise. If we don't talk, the mind would start hurting. If there is no one you want to talk to, start by reading anything you are interested in 'outloud', not loudly, but read out loud a chapter everyday or every-other day. The other thing is you have-to forget all about the past. The past is what holds us back and messes with the emotions. Daily brisk walking even on a gloomy day as frequently as possible can ward off any negative emotions you may be experiencing. Pick-up a religion, don't convert to one yet, but read one, if that doesn't work, try another one. Sometimes, I like reading books in Buddhism. Their knowlege are interesting, and you can get free literature, with a small cash donation. Oh, and the other way to balance your emotion is Diet/Exercise/Proper Sleep/and if you need to release your emotions. If you need to cry, you should do it (privately.) If you have anger, punch a punching bag more than once. if you need to yell, blast music 'on' somewhere like your home and yell it out (make sure no one hears you-it can be dangerous.), if you need to kick, kick a soccer ball on an opened field where there is no one and release what's bothering you into the ball.
